In der zweiten Hälfte der Erkundungsreise war der Besuch an der Early Bird Grundschule von Wanga, welche wir unterstützen wollen, ein zentrales Thema. An der Schule wurden Maik, Sarah und Diana zuerst offiziell von Direktor William Watembo den Lehrkräften vorgestellt. Danach ging es zu den Schülern in die Klassenzimmer. Neben den drei Erkunder*Innen wurde auch Ingenieure ohne Grenzen vorgestellt.

Nach dem Unterricht gab es im Innenhof der Schule eine große Versammlung mit allen Lehrern und Schülern, welche die Gelegenheit bot, die auf Empfehlung von Enochs Familie, aus Deutschland mitgebrachten Bücher und Fußbälle an die Kinder zu übergeben. Besonders die Bücher sind auf großes Interesse bei den Lehrern und Schülern gestoßen.

Nach der Versammlung haben Sarah, Diana und Maik noch gemeinsam das Schulgebäude vermessen, die Bausubstanz und die sanitären Anlagen analysiert. Somit bekommen wir in Leipzig eine Übersicht, an welchen Stellen Verbesserungen vorgenommen werden sollten, für die wir dann Lösungsvorschläge ausarbeiten. #wirbauenzusammen

In the second half of the exploration journey, the visit to Wanga's Early Bird Elementary School, which the Leipzig regional group want to support, was a key issue. At school, Maik, Sarah and Diana were at first officially introduced to the teachers by director William Watembo. Then they went to the pupils in the classrooms. Here our three explorers and our organization, Engineers without Borders, were introduced to the children.

After the lessons, there was a large coming-together of all the teachers and pupils in the courtyard of the school. Then was the opportunity to hand over to the children the atlases, the cultural textbooks and the footballs, which were, on the recommendation of Enoch's family, brought along from Germany. Especially the books have been met with great interest by teachers and pupils.

After the meeting Sarah, Diana and Maik surveyed the school building, did an building condition assessment and inspected the sanitary facilities. Thus our team in Leipzig receives an outline of where improvements should be made and following which solutions could be suggested. #webuildtogether
