Malawis bezaubernde Landschaft

**** English version below ****

Malawi, an inconspicuous landlocked country in south-east Africa, impresses with its diverse and varied landscape despite its small size. The geographical backdrop ranges from imposing mountains to vast savannahs. The climate is subtropical, with a desert climate in the north and a humid, tropical climate in the south.
A very special highlight is the impressively large Lake Malawi (see picture) in the east of the country, which is home to a unique diversity of species. It covers an area of 29,600 km², which is roughly the size of Brandenburg. Over 90 % of the fish species living in the lake can only be found here. In fact, it is the lake with the most fish species in the world, but it is also threatened by overfishing.
Further south is the Liwonde National Park, which comprises a paradisiacal swamp area with many aquatic animals. Another national park, Nyika National Park, is located in the mountainous north of the country. "Nyika" means wilderness and can be found there in the form of large, wide plateaus, gentle, grassy hills and deep gorges. During the rainy season, the hilly landscape is transformed into a sea of flowers and orchids.
The majestic landscape of Malawi presents itself as a fascinating mosaic of natural phenomena. From the green hills to the vast plains, the Malawian landscape not only offers breathtaking views, but also a habitat for numerous animal and plant species.
