Hello my friends,

meanwhile our project moved towards the highly constructive phase. We finalized our orders for the solar system and the insulation. We hold the quotations in our hands and we hope after some detailed discussions about the tasks to be done on site that the system will be installed by the end of the week.

But this is just one side of our project. Parallel we followed the plan of spreading the idea of the solar systems throughout the KDSSS and its about 100 institutions. We came up with the idea of a fund based financing instrument for the KDSSS owned institutions. This means each institution has the chance to apply for the new system, which will save massive amounts of fuel in each case. From the money saved from buying less fuel for the new system, they can pay back the “loan” they got from the fund. So that time after time all the institutions can come into the favor of such a system.

The system itself is a biomass pellet stove combined with the solar water heating system. The pellets are produced in the Kurnool area, from where they can be supplied to the institutions.

Before we can be sure and fix the exact rates to pay back the systems, we will do some experiments with a leased stove in Adoni, to find out how much fuel such a system consumes. We are also not sure yet, if the simulated temperatures for the solar system meet the real temperatures. So we also have to test the system on site, to prevent false promises.

We hope that those tasks will be accomplished within the next days. We are already invited by the headmaster of a seminary we already visited twice, this and last year, to install our solution. We hope that this second project will be installed within our stay. We already got some promising answers from international social institutions who want to support our “fund-concept” financially.

Since the last week was the week of orders and we had to wait for our supplier to answer we took the chance and went to visit some touristic spots around Adoni. Culturally and energetically recharged, we now sit in the train to Bangalore to meet one of the suppliers in the afternoon to clarify final questions concerning the installation.

We are both doing well. We are looking forward to the installation and the first test runs of the system.
